Our Meliadine Project is located 25 km northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay in Nunavut. This high-grade gold project is Agnico Eagle’s fully permitted advanced development project with a potential start-up in 2019. In addition to activities at this site, a number of support staff also work from offices located in Val-d’Or and Mirabel, Quebec.


Under the direction of the Mine General Supervisor, the Mine Supervisor is accountable for the safe, efficient and quality of work performed by the Mining Team, while respecting Agnico Eagle’s company culture, health & safety code of conduct and the environment. He/She will coordinate and ensure the production targets are met as planned and in respect to the budget and the mine plan.


Ensure that all practices and procedures are performed with respect to the defined regulations;
Ensure health and safety of the Mining Team by verifying that weekly and monthly safety audits are performed (work cards, inspections, safety meetings, etc.) and accurate reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents;
Ensure that underground employees have received proper training /accreditation for the jobs they perform and for the tools/equipment they operate;
Promote Agnico Eagle’s environmental and sustainability policies, ensure all federal and provincial legislative requirement are met;
Prepare the shift’s lineup as required, ensuring the maximization of resources, in an effort to achieve optimal performance and meet daily objectives safely;
Enforce the utilization of the work card and supervision formula principals during the course of the shift;
Lead the Mining Team in all safety and production related matters and ensure to correctly record all relevant information and data;
Complete the timesheets, shift logs and reports accurately;
Ensure smooth communication and interaction within technical and operation team to assist in the planning and design to ensure goals are achieved;
Perform all other duties as requested by the Management Team;


High school diploma; Post-secondary studies in a field of study related to mining (asset);
A minimum of 2 recent years of experience in a leadership position;
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the Mining industry;
Experience working in a multicultural environment;
Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team;
Ability to plan and organize large scale operations;
Strong leadership and good interpersonal skills;
Ability to adapt quickly to an ever changing environment and its challenges;
Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written);
Hold or eligible for a Level 2 Supervisor Certification, as per the Mining Act;
Hold or eligible for a valid first aid certificate;
Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook and computer skill to complete time entry;
Work Schedule
Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; Flights departing from Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec;
