Our Meliadine Project is located 25 km northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay in Nunavut. This high-grade gold project is Agnico Eagle’s fully permitted advanced development project with a potential start-up in 2019. In addition to activities at this site, a number of support staff also work from offices located in Val-d’Or and Mirabel, Quebec.


Reporting to the Superintendent Geology, the Underground Production Technician will perform his/her duties as a member of the Geology departments and collaborate with other departments of the division. The Technician assists in the determination and control of mineral thickness, in the development of drilling fields, in the estimation of mineral exploit dilution and in the development of present and future reserves. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.


Perform and digitize geological mapping of mineralized and/or sterile development;
Guide the lateral development placed under geological control, in collaboration with the mine department and according to standards established by the geology and engineering departments;
Perform sampling in mineralized zones (chips/mucks);
Verify and update the assays files on a daily basis;
Supply laboratory with samples priorities list and prepare the shipments of samples;
Evaluate the mineral content of the work locations and estimate the exploited mineral dilution;
Help in updating geological and mineralization 3D models;
Perform 3D desurvey of DDH data on a regular basis;
Prepare plans, sections, longitudinal sections for the geology team;
Participate in the monthly safety meeting and risk evaluations of his/her tasks;
Respects the department’s budget in all phases of the work;
Accomplish all other tasks asked by superior.


DEC in mineral technology or the equivalent;
2- 5 years of experience in the underground geological field;
Mine worker modular training;
Experience working in a multicultural environment;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written).
Work Schedule
Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities of the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec;
